| This full-day workshop learning objectives :
1. Apply Social work values and ethics in work with individuals, families and communities struggling with the
aftermath of disaster and/or trauma.
2. Recognize the need for cultural competence in the provision of social services in the aftermath of disaster
and trauma.
3. Recognize how children and adults from myriad family structures and cultures who live in poverty and
experience a disaster or community trauma will have to face unique barriers in accessing services.
4. Identify strengths and service needs of individuals, families, and communities in the aftermath of disaster and
trauma, from various theoretical perspectives.
5. Use research evidence and critical analysis, monitoring and evaluation of interventions to inform practice with
individuals, families, and communities in the aftermath of disaster and/or trauma.
