| Participants will be provided with the following:
1. Definition of intercultural conflicts that occur within the therapeutic interaction.
2. Identify several ingredients of importance for multiculturally competent practice as an antidote for addressing
intercultural conflicts.
3. Understanding of the complex array of intrapersonal factors (ie. countertranference of power and privilege)
and provider-client interactional experiences associated with intercultural conflicts.
4. Gain an understanding both conscious and unconscious influences and the cross-cultural communication
challenges that undermine effective client-practitioner working relationships.
5. Demonstrate specific knowledge, skills and effective assessment and intervention "best practices" that are
used to mitigate cultural conflicts.
