Workshop Outline

8:30 am - 9:00 am Registration & Continental Breakfast

By the end of the workshop participants will be able to:

  • Identify the different components of human sexuality.
  • Describe the prevalence of mental, physical and social health issues affecting sexual minorities.
  • Define tactics on how to serve clients presenting with mental and social health issues.
  • Explain the impact of heterosexism and other forms of discrimination on morbidity, as well as its impact on the prevalence of LGBT individuals seeking and receiving mental health treatment.
  • Identify strategies to create culturally sensitive environments to accommodate the LGBT population in various treatment settings.

Continuing Education Credits

Family Service Association, provider # 1192, is approved as a provider of social work continuing education by
